Pt Chevalier House
From the client
“We were looking for a design that allowed our adult/teenage family each to have their own space while providing an open flow through-out the rest of the house. Entertaining was important so we wanted an open kitchen with a large centre island to congregate around with a walk-through scullery to keep things out of sight.
It’s a fantastic house with a great living space flowing to outdoor patios, our adult children stay for extended periods and the bedrooms/ensuites give everyone their privacy. Not surprisingly the kitchen island is the focal point and you can see the dining, family, patio and living areas from it so you are always part of what is happening no matter where you are.

We love the high plywood ceiling and huge windows let in plenty of light and give a feeling of space, the walkway is really cool and connects the upstairs and downstairs.
It was more of an evolution rather than following a process, we were clear in what we wanted initially and ABRI brought those ideas to life adding in their own experience and knowledge. We felt very involved in the design and selected the materials that we wanted in the house.
People often talk about the stress of building a house but we found it to be a rewarding experience (apart from the niggles with Council) and the architect plays a large part in making that happen.”
